We are delighted to have been accepted as full qualified members of the CIBSE ESOS register. The register, administered by the Environment Agency, is an important step in Macoun being able to assist large companies in reducing their energy consumption. Macoun has all of the necessary professional indemnity insurance policies in place to allow us to advise and consult with businesses.
The ESOS regulations apply to companies with > 250 staff and with certain financial indicators. They are focused on large companies actively assessing their energy consumption and preparing detailing plans for reducing their consumption in order to work towards the UK’s energy targets.
The scheme covers 100% of a company’s energy use from running their offices, their industrial processes and their transport. Once this has been established the companies must review 90% of their energy usage sources and prepare detailed plans for making savings in energy use.
These detailed plans then need to be rubber stamped by a Lead ESOS Energy Assessor (Macoun) and submitted to the Environment Agency before December 5th 2015. Severe fines (up to £ 100,000) will be levied for companies who do not comply.
